High demand jobs in Australia

Thanks to COVID-19 many businesses have been forced to restructure, downsize, and grow to accommodate for sudden changes in demand. Whilst forced to spend more time at home, industries such as IT equipment, home improvements and digital marketing thrived during the pandemic, while others like tourism and hospitality were hit the hardest.
As we continue to navigate these changes in demand, there are a number of high demand jobs in Australia.

1. Healthcare

In response to the surge of healthcare demand brought about by the pandemic, coupled with Australia’s ageing population, demand for workers in the healthcare industry is inevitable. From nursing roles to healthcare workers, the list of healthcare field jobs in demand is endless.

If you have a genuine interest in supporting people, and you function well in high-pressure environments, a healthcare role could be for you.

2. Elderly and disability support

Care for the elderly and disabled is another industry in need of workers.

As Australia’s population of over 70’s continues to grow thanks to improvements in technology and healthcare, there is a significant need for elderly and disability support. In fact, the aged and disabled care industry is projected to grow by 3.5% by the end of 2021, highlighting the need for new workers.

If you have a caring nature and are committed to providing the elderly and disabled with the utmost care, a job in this industry might be suitable for you.

3. Programming specialists

Although COVID-19 has played a significant role in the booming e-commerce industry, many businesses have slowly moved away from traditional brick and mortar stores and instead opt for the increasingly valuable online real estate. In fact, according to Data Feed Watch (2021), e-commerce revenue will grow to $6.54 trillion by 2022, highlighting the demand for knowledgeable website and app programmers.

If you’re an innovative individual interested in software and website development, becoming a programmer could be the future job for you.

4. Trades and construction jobs

As our population continues to grow, so does our need for homes and infrastructure. As a result, electricians, carpenters and plumbers have shown to be some of the highest demand jobs across Australia.

If you have strengths in planning, project management and problem-solving, a trade or career in the construction industry might be a great opportunity for you.

5. School teachers

School teacher jobs are in considerably high demand. As the Australian population continues to grow, so does the number of school students and the demand for qualified educators.

If you’re looking for a stable and secure career, school teaching is a golden opportunity. Not only is the career in itself a viable option, but it is also a very rewarding one. According to the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the top three reasons for becoming a teacher are ‘working with children’, ‘the desire to teach’ and ‘having a positive impact on the next generation of role models.’ If this sounds like you, becoming a school teacher could be the next step in your lifelong career.
